Getting FriendBot to work on Macs Information

Many users wish to use our windows only software on their macs. Below you will find information on how to get these version working on your MACs.Unfortunatly at this time we can not provide support for this outside of this tutorial. However if you get it working successfuly, and have additional information you wish us to add, please contact tech support with your requests. Thank you.

Determining your MAC processor Type

Apple has recently switched to Intel based processors away from their old G3/G4/G5 line. You will first need to determine your processor type.

Click the "About this Mac" link.
You will now have a window open on your desktop. Look at the "Processor" field to determine the type. Here are two examples of what it will look like:

Intel Motorola
All Intel based macs will have "Intel" in the processor field. If it does not it is Motorola.

Installing FriendBot on Intel Based MACs

The recent push to Intel has spareked quite a few companies new interests to push software over to Macs, therefore leaving you with more options.

First, choose your Emulation System:
- Your first option is to use the new Parallels Desktop for Mac. This will work just like Microsft Virtual PC and run Windows right inside your Mac OSX.
- Your second options is the new method that Apple has given to people. This is Apple Boot Camp. This will run Windows in what is called dual boot, meaning you have to reboot to run windows. OSX and XP can not run at the same time.
For either option you will need to obtain a copy of Windows. We reccomend Windows XP Profesional.
Install Windows using the directions given to you by your emulation system
Boot up your copy of Windows
Follow our Getting Started Guide to finish your instalation

At this point you should have FriendBot working. Hope it all worked out!

Installing FriendBot on Motorola Based MACs

Old macs have limited options as for Windows Emulation Programs, but it is still posible. You will want to look at the "Determining your MAC processor Type" section and get how much ram you have in your mac. Older macs may not be able to run Windows XP, and it may be smarter and cheaper to run Windows 98.

If you have less than 512MB of ram, go with Windows 98 (We do not have any information on this other than what people have told us, so please if you get this to work let us know)
If you have 512MB of ram or more, go with Windows XP (Home or Profesional will work).

Purchase or download Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac. That link will give you a legal copy of both virtual PC and Windows XP
Install everything acording to microsofts directions.
Boot up your Virtual PC
Follow our Getting Started Guide to finish your instalation

At this point you should have FriendBot working. Hope it all worked out!
